2021 Acura Price and Release Date– The Acura 2021 lineup is fully uniformly after the last of the roast half-models have finally switched to contemporary design language based around the new grid Pentagon, which should serve the brand for years to come. Honda Luxury division may not be the best-selling luxury Japanese brand as an honor it always belongs to Lexus, but at least they are consistent. What’s more, Acura has sold more units in the US than the Nissan Infiniti year division, years out, since their inception in the late eighties.
The Acura model for 2021 itself will largely remain unchanged, but some movements are still expected to take place. The TLX Sedan, for example, will be completely redesigned, and so does the MDX crossover. At the end of the sporty spectrum, Japan will likely introduce an all-new high-performance NSX type R.
Entry-level luxury sedan slots between the flagship RLX and even more affordable ILX. Around since MY 2015, the TLX is getting the first substantial Makeover that doesn’t count my 2018 facelift that gives it the new Pentagon Grille. The second-gen Acura TLX is expected to be a much better car than the exit model. Especially since it comes in both regular and sporty type S guises. Whether it would be enough to stop the bleeding in a sedan sale-too fast to say.

The 2021 Acura TLX is finally free to harness The Company’s Next-gen language design. The new car will be much more aggressive than its predecessor, with more obvious wheel arches, the frontal fascia looking sharper, and the larger air intakes all work their magic towards the end of it. Of course, S-type models will be more aggressive than their conventional counterparts. In addition to getting bigger wheels and sharper fascias, they will also sport Quad Exhaust tips that the usual TLX will not get.
It is still too early to talk about the TLX interiors even the exterior is under a heavy wrap. However, we can safely expect fully revised cabins with new design languages and many new features. Also, it is obvious that the new TLX will adopt an RDX crossover Infotainment system with a pop-up display and a touchpad controller. Hopefully, by the time 2021 is to us, the Japanese will remain a clear flaw which is now the subject of class action lawsuit.
2021 Acura TLX Engine
The 4-cylinder 2.0 L turbocharged engine from RDX will likely serve the next generation of TLX arrays. This is good enough for the 272 horsepower that is just shy of the model out the most powerful 290 horsepower V6 factory. On the other hand, the performance-oriented 2021 Acura TLX type S will likely borrow the NSX sports car technology. Its 3.5 L Twin-Turbo V6 should be more than able to provide around 350 horsepower without the help of a separate electric motor. A 10-speed automatic transmission is expected to be the only option while both front and all-wheel drive will be in the image as well.

Acura dropped TSX Compact and intermediate model TL, and replaced it with a single model: Medium TLX. This new Sedan, now bridging the gap between ILX and RLX, instantly becomes one of the Acura’s most popular models with a subtle balance of sportiness, luxury, and comfort. Since its debut, TLX saw only a few updates, including a new PMC edition-for-2020, but we were expecting a full redesign for the TLX 2021. The upcoming concept of the Acura type S may give us a clue on what to expect from the Acura 2021 TLX.
The S-type concept brings many current TLX design languages but pushes to a new level of Audi with a sharp back on the hood, larger air inlet on the bumper, larger wheels, Deep scallop at the door, a more Coupe-like roof line, thin Chicane taillights, and quad-Exit Exhaust Tips. Keep in mind, the type S concept is likely to represent a focus version of the performance of the TLX 2021, so we expect lower-trimmed models to display more mainstream front air inlet and exhaust outlets.
There is no glimpse in the type S Concept, so it is not as easy to gather what would look like a TLX 2021 cabin. A quick look at the latest model Acura, the RDX, might give us a clue with a red-lit gauge, a Split-Lower-speaking steering wheel, Push-Button transmission, a floating Infotainment screen, and a shaplier Dash. This may all be Staples in the Acura generation model, albeit scaled to TLX. If the S Concept performs a preview of TLX with more complete performance, look for the Sportier interior facilities, including the Flat-Bottom Steering Wheel, supported seats, and more.
What lies under the hood of TLX 2021 remains uncertain at this time, but if the Acura takes on a recent turbocharging trend, we could see it making the same transition its distant cousin, the Honda Accord, which was made by eliminating Natural aspiration four-and six-cylinder engine and replacing it with a turbocharged four-cylinder unit. The Accord currently uses 192-Horsepower Turbo 1.5-liter and 252-HP 2.0-liter. Although the machine is less powerful than the current TLX 206-HP 2.4-liter and 290-HP 3.5-liter V6, they are capable of more power, such as 1.5-liter delivers 205-HP in Civic SI and 2.0-liter pumps 306 HP to the Civic type R.
Safety has been a focus for Honda and Acura recently, as TLX currently boasts the latest in advanced safety technologies as a standard feature. These include automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, Lane-continuing help, road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruises, and more. TLX is currently yearned to be IIHS Top safety Pick due to the rating “acceptable ” in a small Crash test overlap. We expect Acura to overcome this weakness in its redesign.
2021 Acura MDX
Much like the above mentioned TLX sedan, the MDX too is getting ready for a complete overhaul. The mid-size luxury crossover first appeared back in 2001 but the current-generation models are running on underpinnings unchanged since 2014. The fourth-generation Acura MDX will again be based on the Honda Pilot, hence it’ll remain one of the best family options in its segment.
Design-wise, the all-new Acura MDX won’t stray too far from what the outgoing models are providing, but sharper angles all over are still expected to convert it into a more aggressive-looking SUV. Thinner headlamps, a larger grille, new set of wheels, and revised fascias will all play their part in achieving that goal.
Inside, the 2021 Acura MDX also gets the RDX’s infotainment system with a widescreen pop-up display which receives commands via a touchpad controller. Actually, the entire Acura range is expected to adopt the same setup within the next few years. Being a relatively expensive option (although still more affordable than competition), the redesigned MDX will also boast a long list of advanced safety gear and driver’s aids.

The current models rely on V6 engines alone, but that might soon get changed. The RDX’s 2.0L turbo four is more than capable of providing similar numbers as the outgoing MDX’s 3.5L V6 while improving fuel economy at the same time. As far as the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD model goes, its 3.0L V6 with three electric motors will likely be carried over. After all, it’s good enough for 321 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque while returning up to 27 mpg combined. Expect the next-gen models to adopt a new 10-speed automatic gearbox while the hybrid is expected to continue using a 7-speed dual-clutch.

The next-gen Acura MDX is expected to make its official debut sometime in 2020 and arrive to dealerships in time for MY 2021. Prices will likely remain mostly intact with the entry-level models requiring around $45,000 and the range-topping units warranting at least $55,000 prior to extras.

It seems like yesterday, but the second generation has really made its debut a few years ago now. Japan does not do much to make it more attractive to the masses since the inauguration back in the middle of 2016, but it will soon change. Enter the 2021 Acura NSX type R-high performance high-performance sports car version which will eventually bring a much needed refresh to the automotive icon.
To be very fair, Japan has introduced a new color palette a year before, but it’s hardly considered a major change. This may have increased the NSX sales at first, but they will start to decline again if they are not doing something more radical. The R type Model is exactly like that, and a more aggressive Aero packet screams in the assertion of that statement. What’s more, the high performance version of the Japanese supercar will also weigh less and accept different suspension settings from the regular unit.
The Interior will be almost no different, however. The Acura NSX type R may offer a Hard-core feature removal package to save more weight, but few people are expected to take advantage of it. Different colors, accents, stitches, and maybe even Sportier chairs are what we could possibly expect.
The Acura NSX new R type is expected to use the same 3.5 L twin-turbocharged V6 factory assisted by Trio electric motors. Instead of the 573 horsepower that a regular model makes, however, the performance version is expected to drop as much as 650 horses on us. A 9-speed dual-clutch automatic manual gearbox should bring to the new model but it is still unclear whether the R type will use an all-wheel drive system or perhaps a drop Dual Motor electric front and switch to the Rear-wheel drive to save weight .
The new Acura NSX type R made its official debut at the Tokyo Auto Show 2019 and had to arrive at several showrooms of choice in time for MY 2021. When that happens, it will probably cost around $200,000. Not to mention the cost of insurance.
2021 Acura RDX
Only recently overhauled, the RDX is now the best-selling Acura model with 63,580 units delivered to U.S. buyers throughout 2018. The compact luxury crossover offers a fine combination of refinement, technology, comfort, and style, and is a good value for money. Although nothing is expected to be changed in 2021, the compact will easily remain one of the most coveted Acura vehicles.
The RDX might not have been the first Acura model to don the new design language but it will be the one to pave the way for others since it was the first fully redesigned model in company’s portfolio in recent years. It’s a bold and stylish alternative for compact luxury crossover buyers which does its job admirably but doesn’t come completely faultless.
2021 Acura RDX Interior
The RDX’s interior has already started migrating to other Acura cars and will have become a standard by the time MY 2021 has said its piece. A more intuitive (at least according to Acura) infotainment system is only one part of the complex interior puzzle. The compact crossover provides an abundance of tech and convenience gear even in entry-level trims, but you’ll have to opt for upper grades in order to unlock its full potential.

There’s only one engine responsible for moving the best-selling Acura crossover around. A 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder generates a healthy 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque while pairing with a contemporary 10-speed automatic transmission. Both the front and rear-wheel drive are available across the board. One of the four-banger’s biggest advantages is its fuel economy which peaks at 22/28 mpg in front-wheel drive models but a more powerful optional engine would have been appreciated regardless.

2021 Acura RLX
The aging flagship Acura sedan isn’t enjoying its most successful of periods as fewer than 2,000 buyers opted for buying one in 2018. Then again, the full-size sedan was never the best of sellers to begin with since its best result was around 5,000 units back in 2013. Although Acura is in a process of overhauling its lineup, it would seem that the RLX will be omitted for MY 2021.
In spite of the fact the RLX rides on underpinnings unchanged since 2013, the full-size luxury sedan was already brought up to the new design language’s standard after a recent facelift for MY 2018. Although flagship luxury sedans are rarely engaging to drive, the RLX feels more burdened than its competitors. That’s the proof a facelift often isn’t enough to reverse one car’s bad fortunes.

Although the RLX offers an extremely comfortable cabin with an abundance of convenience and tech gear, it still doesn’t feel as luxurious as most of its competitors – especially the ones from Germany. What’s more, it’s also one of the most expensive cars in its segment – at least in an entry-level form. Heck, it’s more expensive than the Mercedes-Benz E Class even, although we all know that the similarly equipped E Class sedan would warrant a much higher price tag.

There’s only one engine behind the RLX sedan and it’s an aging 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 which develops 310 horsepower. Luckily enough, the same engine can also be obtained in the SH-AWD configuration with trio of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. The RLX hybrid cranks up 377 combined horsepower and returns up to 28 mpg combined – 5 mpg more than the regular model. While the conventional RLX pairs to a 10-speed automatic transmission, the hybrid models make do with a 7-speed dual-clutch.

As already mentioned, the regular RLX stands out as the most expensive vehicle in its class thanks to a rather hefty price tag of $55,000. The optional hybrid package with all-wheel drive requires $62,000.
2021 Acura ILX
As one of the most obsolete cars in the segment and one of the most obsolete Acura cars overall, ILX’S placement at the end of our hot/cold scale did not come very well as a shock. There are just a lot of better options out there and the fact that nothing has yet to come out of the Acura camp regarding the compact redesign, does not work in favor.
The compact luxury Sedan may have received some face lift already but can not hide the fact that the base has not been properly updated since mid-2012. Technically, ILX is just a Civic plushier, but at least Honda doesn’t have the luxury to ignore one of the best-sellers in such a way.
At least ILX offers many of the standard features of the get-go such as dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, and sunroof. Advanced security features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and fixed-path standards are also standard. However, the ILX entry-level does not offer a touchscreen Infotainment system that speaks volumes about its age.

There is only one machine available with the Acura ILX, and it is 2.4 L naturally sucked in inline-four. Paired with 8-speed automatic gearbox, 4-cylinder return 201 horsepower and 180 lb-ft torque. Only front-wheel drive is available with the ILX which is further the smallest sedan distance than the rest of the Acura lineup.

The Acura ILX starts from just under $26,000 before the cost of destination, and works in a way that goes to the price tag of $32,000 with the Premium plan and the technology included. Although it’s one of the more affordable ways of owning a luxury sedan, the Acura ILX is far from actually becoming a true luxury vehicle. Of all the Acura available models, this ILX is arguably one that provides the most reason to avoid.
2021 Acura TLX Spy Photos
Spy photos of the next-generation Acura TLX surfaced. While heavily camouflage and cladding hid much of the sedan’s design details, there’s no doubt it features Type S Concept styling underneath. The first photos also gave us a look inside, albeit a small peek at the top of the dashboard.
We see the same infotainment display atop the dash and analog tach gauge as before. The photos also show the instrument panel and a bit of the center console. There’s a good chance it could look similar to the RDX’s IP as we can see the True Touchpad Interface and volume controls on the center console.
Much of the car is still covered under heavily camouflage; however, we do see a hint of the front daytime running lights that look nearly identical to those on the Type S Concept as do the rear taillights; however, they are not as angular as the ones on the concept. Customers should expect the TLX to grow over the current offering with the new iteration receiving a longer wheelbase.
We don’t know what will power the TLX; however, there is a good chance it could use the RDX’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 272 horsepower (203 kilowatts) and 280 pound-feet (380 Newton-meters) of torque. It’ll power the front or all four wheels through the rumored 10-speed automatic. The TLX Type S could receive the turbocharged V6 engine Acura is developing along with torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
2021 Acura TLX Redesign
The redesigned TLX is expected to utilize the Acura-exclusive platform that debuted at 2019 RDX. As Acura chief Jon Ikeda said last year the RDX launch, SUV was the only first vehicle based on the platform.
This is still a front-wheel-drive design, although there are major improvements aimed at improving the quality of the ride. For example, more than 50 percent of the construction is high-strength steel to increase body rigidity, while ultra-high strength steel door rings to make the structure even more rigid. You will also find the suspension of Macpherson buffer in front and sophisticated five-link independent setups on the back.
This would be a good sign for a planned S-type TLX that should also be prepared in time for the 2021 year model. The last type S badge was seen on the Acura back in 2008 on the TL sedan. At the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Acura announced the S-type badge will return on some models, and the new turbocharged V-6 on deck.
We suspect V-6 will come from 3.5 liters of Twin-Turbo in the NSX supercar, and that’s a good thing. Mules initial tests for TLX type S have seen that refer to the 354-horsepower of the Audi S4 and the 362-HP Mercedes-AMG C43, so you can imagine the level of performance the engineers are targeting. Of course, all-wheel drive should be standard for type S.
As for the basic version of the redesigned TLX, the 272-HP 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 features in the RDX should make the cut. Hybrid options can also be in pipes. A single transmission is expected to be 10-Speed Auto.
2021 Acura TLX Release Date and Price
There is no official release date for the 2021 Acura TLX, but the Acura S-type concept will hit the event circuit on August 16th and 18th. The price also remains uncertain, but we expect a decent size rate increase on the current model of the MSRP range of $33,995 to $50,945 (including destination costs). The 2021 Acura TLX will compete with the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, and INFINITI Q50.
