2022 Subaru Impreza Redesign
2022 Subaru Impreza Redesign– The Subaru Forester 2021, Outback, 2021 Crosstrek and Ascent all posted gains last month, but the Subaru Impreza is running out of gas. This is what the compact car needs for the 2022 model change.
The Subaru Impreza lags way behind other all-wheel-drive models in the lineup. In September, when every Subaru model posted an advantage over the last year, the Impreza compact sedan and hatchback dropped again. The Impreza was down 21.1 percent over the same month a year earlier and down -34.8 percent year-on-day, more than any other model.
The Impreza sedan and hatchback were the first to be updated with the new Subaru Global Platform in 2017. In the fourth year of its life cycle, the Impreza received a minor refresher for 2020, and next year will be the last year before a complete overhaul. In its fifth year, Impreza 2021 receives minor changes and overhaul of the standard features that were previously selected. Significant changes occur in 2022.
The current-generation Impreza doesn’t keep up with the competition. The Honda Civic is the segment leader with 73,083 sales as of August 2020, while the Impreza only manages 13,535 sales to customers. The Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra, Kia Forte and Volkswagen Jetta all have more sales than the Impreza.
2022 Subaru Impreza Redesign
A full redesign is coming up in 2022, and compact sedans and hatchbacks need something big to keep up with the competition. We know the next generation Impreza 2022 will come with the new EyeSight X driver-assist safety technology. It could get a new turbocharged 1.5-liter engine, and Subaru could downgrade the manual transmission.
The new turbocharged direct-injection engine will likely come with the same power but will increase fuel mileage. The Subaru Impreza 2021 features a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Boxer engine with automatic CVT and a 6-speed manual gearbox on the lower trim. Subaru uses manual transmission, so all trims are equipped with the standard EyeSight.
The hot Honda Civic is an attractive model, but it won’t be easy. Subaru needed something to grab the attention of a young demographic looking for sporty and fast. When Impreza broke with the WRX in 2015, the compact car lost its performance traits. Since then, the decline has been steady.
Subaru isn’t one to make radical exterior changes, but the Impreza needs more than other models. This compact car now looks like an inferior version of the Crosstrek and should move away from the adventurous model with a radically new design.
The Subaru Impreza 2022 also needs bigger engine options like the one Crosstrek recently received. That will spark renewed interest in the Impreza model and give him the proper Sport trim with added power. The new naturally aspirated 2.4-liter Boxer engine powering the BRZ 2022 would be a perfect choice. Stay here.
